The Florida Youth Pickleball Association is the connective structure between USA Pickleball and every gym, park, club and school court in the state — so a kid who picks up a paddle in Pensacola and a kid who picks one up in Key West are playing the same game, held to the same standards, and pointed at the same opportunities.

FYPA is a Florida nonprofit organized to grow youth pickleball across the state under the principles, rules and guidance of USA Pickleball, the sport's National Governing Body.
We are not a competing authority and we do not write our own version of the sport. We take what the national body has already built — the rulebook, the ratings system, the sanctioning framework, the equipment and facility standards, the officiating pathway — and we make it work for Florida's juniors, county by county.
Everything below the age of eighteen is our lane. Beginners in a PE class. Middle schoolers in a parks and rec clinic. Fourteen-year-olds who want a real tournament schedule. Juniors chasing a college roster spot or a pro tour card. Those are four very different players who currently rely on four disconnected sets of adults, and no shared record of progress.
Our job is to connect them — and to make sure the adult standing on the other side of the net is trained, screened and teaching the same game everyone else is teaching.

Youth sport in America works because someone stands between the federation and the field. In soccer, state associations are direct affiliates of the national federation — they carry national policy, player pathways and registration frameworks down to the grassroots club, and carry that club's players back up. FYPA is built on the same model, for pickleball.
USA Pickleball
The sport's National Governing Body and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It maintains the official rulebook, sanctions the country's premier tournaments, certifies equipment and facilities, trains and credentials referees, and sets the vision the whole sport is built on. Its authority is the reason a match in Florida means the same thing as a match in Ohio.
Florida Youth Pickleball Association
We translate national policy into Florida programs. We register players once and keep their record portable. We hold coaches to a screening and training standard before they're allowed near a kid. We run a sanctioned junior calendar so results count toward national ratings instead of disappearing. And we carry Florida's players, problems and progress back up to the national body.
Clubs, schools, parks and academies
The grassroots does the actual work: the after-school clinic, the Saturday ladder, the PE unit, the junior academy. Affiliating with FYPA gives them the rules, the standards, the coach training, the event templates and the calendar — so a volunteer parent in Ocala isn't inventing a youth program from scratch.

One record that follows the player
A single statewide junior membership. Age division, rating, event history and coach of record in one place, portable from club to club and aligned with national systems.
Adults who have been checked
Background screening, abuse-prevention and concussion training, and a published code of conduct for every coach, official and volunteer working a FYPA-affiliated program.
A junior circuit that counts
Sanctioned regional events in 8U through 18U divisions, run to the official rulebook, feeding a state championship and national-level qualification.
Training built for young players
Clinics, curriculum and a certification pathway for youth coaches — teaching kids' pickleball, not a shortened version of the adult game.
Courts where the kids already are
Equipment grants, portable-net kits and PE curriculum for Title I schools, county parks and rec departments, so cost isn't the reason a child never tries.

We don't write our own rules.
Fragmentation is what stalls a youth sport. Every program FYPA sanctions or affiliates operates on the national framework, unchanged: the official USA Pickleball rulebook, national ratings, certified equipment, national facility standards, and referees trained through the national pathway — plus a junior officiating track for teens who want to learn the other side of the game.
A junior who moves from Jacksonville to Naples, or from Florida to any other state, should not have to start over. Standards are what make that true.
Sixty years from a backyard to a statewide youth pathway.
Pickleball was invented in 1965 by three fathers on Bainbridge Island, Washington, to give bored kids something to do — the game was made for children first. Sixty years later it is the fastest-growing sport in America, Florida is its capital, and organized youth play is still scattered, informal and mostly invisible. That is the gap FYPA exists to close.
FYPA incorporates as a Florida nonprofit, files for 501(c)(3) status, seats a founding board, and aligns its bylaws and player-pathway policy with USA Pickleball.
Background screening and abuse-prevention training go live. The first youth coaching clinics run, and the founding affiliate clubs are chartered.
Statewide junior membership opens. The inaugural regional series runs in 8U through 18U divisions across North, Central and South Florida.
PE curriculum kits, portable-net grants and after-school partnerships launch with county school districts and parks and recreation departments.
A statewide junior championship, a Florida youth state team competing nationally, and a published collegiate and scholarship pathway for Florida juniors.
